RV Life

Yes it is true ... we have joined the ranks of the RVers. We visited French Creek State Park on a cycle ride a few weeks back and were bitten by the camping bug. We decided to look into a pop up and try it out to see if this was really for us. We do travel a lot and with relatives all over the country it makes sense for us. So we started our search. My one requirment was that we have a bathroom in the unit. I am past the stage of waking several times during the night and having to walk to a bath house :) We quickly found out that a pop up with a bathroom would be expensive and involve a great deal of set up. So we looked at the newer hybrids a combination between a pop up and a travel trailer. Light enough that we could haul it with our new Santa Fe. As we looked around we also found some smaller travel trailers that were actually less expensive than the hybrids and offered a great deal more. It seems dealers are really willing to bargain right now especially with their parking lots filled with used trailers. Well the only way we could go for something like that would be with a new vehicle to pull it with. We were already looking into buying a pick up truck for Adam who turns 16 on Halloween so we just bought it early and that opened a great deal of new options. We ended up with the unit above which is older but in really great shape. We took it on its maiden voyage last weekend for a Lacrosse tournament and all went very well. Bruce is doing a great job getting used to hauling it and manuevering it. So our pop up has turned into a 26 foot travel trailer :) We plan to do a good deal of traveling with it this summer. Our biggest trip this summer will be at the end of July through the beginning of August to go to Chicago and Arkansas.

Busy Busy Busy

Life at the Kennett/Lenhard household continues to be busy. Amber is finishing up her freshman year at one college and preparing to transfer to Millersville University in August. She will be living on campus so there are many things that need to be prepared. She is working at PNC bank as a teller and is doing a really good job there. Adam's life rotates around Lacrosse and friends. He is starting on the varsity team which is a real accomplishment and we are proud of him. His grades are good and he is looking forward to playing on a summer team with Blue Mountain again this summer. Bruce continues to travel to Arkansas as frequently as he can to visit with his dad and other family members there. In March he traveled to Colorado to see the kids and grandkids. He had a great time. He substitutes when he can and really has the yard looking amazing. I am counting down the days until summer vacation. It is hard to go to work when I know Bruce is at home, but I have at least 7 years before I can retire so I need to get used to it. I spend a great deal of time cheering on Adam at his games. I am always looking for excuses to travel and hope that we can do some this summer. I was called to jury duty in Philadelphia and really hope I am not selected. Philadelphia is not a place on my travel list :)

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to One and All. We are looking forward to a nice vacation and Christmas holiday. I know it has been way too long since I last added to this blog and I am sorry for that but I am here now. :) We hope that you all will have a safe and enjoyable holiday and that you will remember the true meaning of Christmas and share it with your loved ones. This is my first Christmas with the love of my life (Bruce) and I am blessed to have him in my life. My children have always been the best part of my Christmas and even though, as you can see, they are growing up I still look forward to the excitement on their faces as they enjoy their gifts and the time with family. Bruce and I will be traveling to Chicago to visit with Aunt Avis during the holidays and then we are off to Arkansas where we hope to catch up with even more of the Kennett Klan.

Pennsylvania Keystone Games

Adam plays lacrosse with a summer team. This year he was invited to play in the Keystone Games and represent Lancaster County as part of this team. We went to Penn State University where the games were played. This was an unbelievable weekend and experience for Adam. His team, Blue Mountain, ended up the weekend undefeated and brought home the gold medal. The boys played hard and represented the county well.

New Baby

That's right we have a new baby. Yesterday, August 6th Jill and Amber and Adam went looking at puppies. We had decided that we would get a new puppy for Bruce for his birthday. The plan was to find one and have the kennel hold it until Bruce's birthday. However when we found Buster it was love at first site for all three of us. Amber and Adam and Buster all worked their charms on Jill and the puppy came home with us yesterday. We yelled for Bruce to come to the garage where he found the puppy and we all yelled Happy Birthday. As you can see he is the cutest puppy ever and already loves his daddy. Buster is a Jug. His mother was a Jack Russel Terrier and his dad was a Pug. He was born on March 30th. He is a happy little boy and seems very glad to have his own home and family.

Family Visits

On Monday, July 21st we left for a family visits trip. After a very long almost 12 hour drive we arrived in Chicago at Aunt Avis' house. It was great to see her and as always we had a wonderful time there. Bruce was happy to show Jill around his old stomping grounds. It was so much fun to look through all of Aunt Avis' collections. Aunt Avis had a rough winter with illnesses but she seems to be doing better now other than a bad foot. It was hard for her to get around but we did visit a museum and went out to eat several times. One night we saw 12 deer that were almost tame. In the evenings we would play Ulcers and spend time catching up. We hope that Aunt Avis will come see us for the next visit. We think she would love this area and we know we would love showing her around. We left Chicago on Thursday morning and headed for Berryville, Arkansas.

After 11 hours we arrived in Berryville at Julie and John Kennett's house. John is Bruce's brother. Gordon Kennett, Bruce's dad, lives with them too. While in Berryville we got to visit with John and Julie, Dad Kennett, Jennifer Kennett (niece), Jason and his wife Erica (niece and nephew) and their kids, Brandon, Rhett and Gracie. We had a wonderful visit. We played with the kids as much as possible and went driving through the country with John and Julie one day. We all went out to eat at The Steak Inn. We played Ulcers in the evenings and had breakfast with Dad and John several mornings. It was so nice to spend the time with family. We hope to find time to get back to Arkansas very soon. Jill just loves her new family.

Ocean City Maryland

We took a family vacation to Ocean City Maryland at the end of June. Jill's parents rent a beach house for a week each summer so that the families can spend some quality time together. As usual we had a great time. We spent our days at the beach and our evenings eating out and relaxing and visiting the boardwalk.
